An Embedded System is an electronic system which is designed to perform one or a limited set of function, using hardware and software.

The application of Embedded systems can be seen every element of daily life. The following lists are :

      I.          Consumer Electronics: Cameras, TVs, DVD Player, microwave oven, Remote, washing machine etc.

 III.          Automobile controls: Anti-lock braking system, engine & transmission control, door & wiper control, etc.

SSI - Small Scale integrated Circuit ( 1- 10 gates )

MSI – Medium Scale integrated Circuit ( > 10 <100 gates )

VLSI – Very Large Scale integrated Circuit ( 1000 gates )

 

ASIC – Application Specific Integrated Circuit

Advantages of Digital Devices / Embedded System :

i.                 We can use FPGA kit to create new IC.

ii.               High Speed.

iii.             Flexibility is Large.

 

Disadvantages of Digital Devices / Embedded System :

i.                 Very Costly.

ii.               Software is not User friendly

iii.             Voltaic memory
